About Tecnalia Research & Innovation

Tecnalia Research & Innovation has been born out of the merger between Cidemco, ESI, Euve, Fatronik, Inasmet, Labein, Leia and Robotiker, thus creating the largest private Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+i) group in Spain and one of the leading ones in Europe, with a staff of over 1,400 people. Its mission is to transform knowledge into GDP improving people´s quality of life by generating business opportunities for companies. TECNALIA masters advanced technologies in areas like: Sustainable Development, ICT, Industry and transport, and Health.

ICONE involves the Aerospace Unit of Tecnalia, where the photonic activities reside. Particularly Tecnalia contributes to ICONE with expertise in nonlinear integrated photonics, photonic-plasmonic coupling, and nanofabrication techniques.

Contribution to ICONE

As an associate member Tecnalia will host students for short periods of time to work in the areas of nonlinear optics and photonic sensors. The work of the students can vary from theoretical work and electromagnetic simulations, using Finite Element Method, Finite Differences Time Domain methods and Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation models, to micro- and nanofabrication of photonic devices at Tecnalia´s facilities.
